Box Shaped World is a play on words. For one, it refers to Geography and the spatial sciences, including Geographic Information Systems/Science.  It also refers to the idea of a little black box that does everything for you with the click of a button.  Recently this has become known as the "Cult of the Amateur," software enabling anyone to do anything.  While I don't disagree with this, I am striving to understand what goes on inside that box, and I also want to share what I find through the blog and tutorials.  Hopefully, someone will find this information useful.
